Dark Life – tween sci-fi with eco-twist?

Via Cynopsis Kids:

The Gotham Group options author Kat Falls’ tween-targeted novel Dark Life, per Variety. Scholastic Press will publish the first title, of a two-book deal, this May 1, 2010. Additionally, the publishing rights to Dark Life have been sold in six languages. Dark Life is set sometime in the future where rising oceans have consumed much Earth’s land, leaving many living very closely on the remaining land except for those who have decided to explore living in communities underwater. The story revolves around a teen boy who has grown up in one of the underwater homesteads and a teen girl from Topside (land), who together uncover a government conspiracy. Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman will produce. Also serving as a producer is Gregory Little, who brought the project to Gotham Group.

Does the book explain why there are rising oceans? Can’t wait to find out.
